Who Are the Central Baptist Association?
The Central Baptist Association is one of 13 bodies that make up the Baptist Union of Great Britain. Covering the ceremonial counties of Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Northamptonshire it has 150 churches with a combined membership of ca 11.000 (including Local Ecumenical Partnerships). Its aim is best summed up by its strap-line “walking together in ministry and mission”. The association has a very broad remit, that includes such things as providing pastoral care for ministers, advice to churches, guiding the settlement process, encouraging churches in their mission, providing training opportunities, encouraging networking, talking ecumenically, and offering small grants to this end, etc. As such it seeks to ‘walk with’ the churches as we journey together in ministry and mission.
How is St Andrews Involved?
St Andrews Baptist Church is a member of the North Buckinghamshire forum that is overseen by Revd. Geoff Colmer, Regional Minister and Team Leader in the Central Baptist Association. Geoff has particular responsibility for the pastoral care of the churches in the Association and their ministers. St Andrews also supports the works of Home Mission by making a monthly contribution which we are able to do through your offering/tithe.
Home Mission
This initiative provides not only a lifeline for many a church and ministry but also is a symbol of our shared journey. St Andrews received the support from Home Mission for a number of years to help us provide the salary for a Student Minister and then the start of our journey in 2011 with a full-time minister.
